Stops will be for lunch (included) at the Dew Drop Inn in Kathryn, Little Yellowstone park area and later at the village of Fort Ransom and Clausen Springs. Byway and prairie stops will be made to view the breeding songbirds, prairie sparrows and nesting waterfowl. Bring your camera to take scenic pictures as a remembrance of your trip. Don’t forget your binoculars and field guide, with appropriate clothing for the weather, whether it be drippy or dry. Dakota Birding will provide a Birding Checklist, a spotting scope and the experienced guide to share information and answer questions while traveling. Transportation will be in 15 passenger van.

Meet at 7 AM - Preregistration required. Meet at John’s I-94 Restaurant, 2nd Valley City exit on I-94. The 24-hour restaurant will be open for those who want to eat breakfast, or get charged up with hot coffee and rolls. We will get introduced, load up and head out! Please park in the ample space in the north parking lot area where the van will meet you.

Bring: Personal supplies, sunscreen, hat, coat (not rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night shall keep us from completing our appointed rounds), shoes that could tolerate a little dampness, binoculars, your favorite field guide, insect repellant, small water bottle you can carry easily, hat. Sunglasses aren't recommended for birding as they tend to diminish the colors that may help you identify the birds, and to see their beautiful colors.

Weather: In case of inclement weather, the tour may need to consider the personal safety of the group members. Some delays may be unavoidable, but most dangerous storms pass quickly. As long as conditions are safe, the tour will continue.

ETHICAL BIRDING As a member of the American Birding Association, Dakota Birding agrees with the ethical birding recommendations made by that organization. These recommendations include taking care to limit the amount of disturbance to the birds, their natural habitat and their activities. Limiting disturbances for the birds and landowner concerns are of great importance to Dakota Birding.
